My name is Alena Coons and I provide services in personal counseling, career counseling and wilderness leadership. I strive to work within clients’ budgets to make my services available to people in any financial circumstance.

My educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology, and a Certificate in Horticultural Therapy. I have experience working with children and youth, young adults, and elders of diverse backgrounds. The services I offer include Personal and Career Counseling as well as consultation. Blending traditional and alternative counseling modalities, I collaborate with my clients to create a plan of action that allows them to become more fully aware of themselves and their place in the world.

I also teach and facilitate group or individual explorations in nature. These experiences promote personal growth and connection to the natural world. The modalities I teach and facilitate include vision quests, medicine walks, night walking, spontaneous ritual, despacho-making, and nature-based contemplation and art. Some of these powerful modalities are rooted in ancient, earth-based traditions and may serve as an adjunct to counseling. However, these experiences should not be considered a substitute for counseling.
